Simplified Chinese Pokemon: Departure Theme Packs

Departure Theme Packs are bonus promo packs included in select Simplified Chinese sets. They’re highly sought after, as they feature a few chase cards from the Japanese and English 151 sets.

These packs contain 2 cards each, but the rates can be a bit confusing. Hopefully after reading this everything will make more sense!

Below are the official rates for each type of card.

As you can see, cards are categorised from 1 to 7 ("No." column), and have associated percentages (rightmost column). 1 card will be from Category 1-3 and the other will be from 4-7.

Card 1

Category 1 (001-049)

The first card has a 92.9% chance of being a normal or ex card (examples below). There are 36 different normal cards and 13 ex cards with a rate of 88.3% and 11.7% respectively.

Category 2 (050-085)

These are shiny Pokemon and there are a total of 36, and have a 5.5% chance to appear.

Category 3 (112-118)

These are shiny ex cards and consists of 7 different Pokemon. These are very rare at 1.6%.

Card 2

Category 4

Category 4 consist of holo energy cards (also unnumbered!). These have a unique holo pattern, and have a rate of 85%.

Category 5 (086-111)

These are art/illustration rares with a rate of 13%, there are 26 different cards to collect!

Category 6 (119-122)

These are the rarest cards from these packs, with only a rate of 0.5%! There are only 4 of these special art/illustration rares.

These also mirror the Pokemon that feature on the Departures "ETBs"

Category 7 (123-133)

These consist of 3 HRs and 8 golden energy cards with a rate of 1.5%.
